Hmmm. This one is almost the whole 100 mb's that are allowed on Gather.

I just re-recorded my dramatic monologue for Mindful Poetry, but it's still too long. I will try to put that one on Youtube and then link it.

Just watched it again ... you have no need to be uncomfortable with this, Susan! First of all, the piece is amazing, with dramatic, compelling images. I've been reading Heart Songs, by E. Annie Proulx. Her stories came to mind when I read your poem. And second, you are a good-looking young woman. Only thing I don't like is the frog ... <<wink wink>>

Yeah, I've had comments about that frog elsewhere. Darn it. I'm attached to it; my little sister made it in jr. hi. ;-) She's gonna want it back when she sees this. :-D

Yes, Ann. I think that if many members of Mindful Poetry take up the challenge of posting a dramatic monologue to the group, we'll become a more cohesive group.

Oops! [clunks head] *This* one isn't a dramatic monologue and therefore I didn't post it to Mindful Poetry. But that is the challenge and form of the month for that group and I hope others participate.

I think you're a member there, aren't you? While I know you are a poetry appreciator, not writer, I wonder if you'd care to share something someone else has written via video?

I will think about it. Not one of mine, probably...but I will see.... have been in prose mode for a long time, but maybe I can find something appropriate and will give it a whirl...must find someone to hold the camera, unless i memorize the whole thing and hold the camera myself.

Awesome Susan. I love the poem and your reading was wonderful. I've tried this before and was never happy enough to post anything. But perhaps I'll give it another try since you have inspired me so with this emotive rendering of your tragic, and yes quite dramatic, poem.

Ok Susan, I did it. You are an inspiration! Sorry it was late for your prompt - I think I'll do more. It is actually quite liberating. I often read my poems aloud - to myself, but recording and posting them adds a whole new dimension.

Bravo, Susan! This was certainly a treat... Not only did I enjoy your poem, but I got to see and hear you recite it~which you did brilliantly. I am going to try and muster up the courage to do the same one day... I hope to see more of these from you, and perhaps some of the other Gather poets.

I enjoyed this, Susan. Another great poem.

Something that might help in the future. Read/recite to someone not holding the camera. Eye the camera, but speak directly to them. If you focus on what you want to say to a person, all the people behind the camera become that person.
